It was all a dream.
My name is Mallory Butcher, the owner and baker at The Butcher & The Baker. My story of baking started when I was really young. I was in Girl Scouts, creating desserts with my mom and sister's for competitions, where I learned how fun baking could be. I really gained a passion for baking when I graduated nursing school. Baking became my stress relief from being a new grad nurse in the prime of COVID-19. I started entering local fairs and competitions, where I placed 2nd and 3rd in Elyria, OH at the Apple Fest in 2022 (I had more than 1 entry). My bloomin' apple tart placed second and my apple spice swiss roll placed third. My bloomin' apple tart is supposed to resemble the all famous bloomin' onion very common at fairs and festivals. It's an apple tart delicately arranged with a crumbly crust, homemade salted caramel sauce, apples and finished with an apricot glaze. It was oh so delicious! The apple spice swiss roll is a genoise sponge with mascarpone cheese, homemade salted caramel sauce, and spiced apples, decorated with apple slices, mint leaves from my garden and powdered sugar. This competition was my moment that I knew I wanted a bakery someday. In the past years since the Apple Fest, I have had numerous people ask me for a pricing menu and/or encouraged me to start the business and so here we are.... While I am still a full time Registered Nurse, baking is my passion and I want to share it with other people! Please see my shop page for ordering from my menu or come see me in the summers at the Medina, Ohio Farmers Market in the downtown square of Medina! Enjoy!
